Hay & Tractor Expo

Our local tractor fans are having a Hay & Tractor Expo this weekend. They are hoping to bale some hay today. It was too wet & rainy yesterday. The day started with our church having service at the tractor lot. It was pretty well attended, and excellent weather. We went for lunch at the church folks tent. The tractors all went for a little drive and of course went right by the house! What fun!!

Face Your Pockets!

So, this has got to be the most creative, Artsy idea I've seen in a looong time! I love how no matter where the person is from they have some of the same things in their pocket, purse, bag that I do!! Gotta face my pocket soon!!

Almost Done

So you might remember that I started this quilt awhile back for one of my co-workers http://bonnieblogyou.blogspot.com/2010/06/its-start.html//, here.
Now I'm all done except for the wash.

I used some leftover strips to make the back and the last bit of strips for the binding. You'd think I cleaned up a few scraps, but, it sure doesn't look like it when looking at my stash.

The Henry Ford-Greenfield Village

We started  out with Greenfield Village.

The Fountain is the Josephine Ford fountain. It's at the entrance to Greenfield Village.

This is the pottery shop. They make tiles and pots and other clay items. They make the clay and the artists were working on tiles when we were here.

There is a lot to do, there's a train to ride, you can pay a fee to make things, like a brass candle stick, or weave some cloth or grind some meal or saw some wood or ride the carousel. There's Thomas Edison's neighborhood, he and Henry Ford were great collaborators. I LOVED the village.

The Henry Ford

The furniture area was undergoing some renovation,so it wasn"t all there, but it was very cool to see the progression from this to Eames!

Motown

Ok I LOVED this museum! It was the best tour ever! I really loved seeing the artifacts, and our guide was fabulous. You're not allowed to take pictures, but here's the outside. And everyone gets to sing in STUDIO A!!!! It was so cool to stand on the very floor that Marvin Gaye mopped, and see the gold records and all the photos! Best bang for the $10!!! I'm soooo glad we came!!

Big Boy!

It was a pretty good burger too!! We stopped here for supper in Detroit or maybe it was Dearborn, I can't tell the difference.

Hotel 3 Courtyard by Marriott-Dearborn

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

So, you can't take photos inside the Rock & Roll hall of fame, but here we are outside.

and here you can see Lake Erie. That's the science Station ship there. And while we were waiting for the shuttle to take us back to the Hotel, the Blimp came by! And just my 2 cents worth, but I think the R&R hall of fame is confusing, but has a TON of cool stuff. It really is worth the dough, but allow a lot of time.
Edited to add:  So now I'm home and I'm so glad we went to the R&RHOF&M. I think I'd even go again but not with Hubs!!! I just didn't like the way you had to go in different elevators with the wheelchair, the design of the building is such that there is one elevator for floors 1 &2 and another elevator for floors 3-6. I didn't get to watch the movies, hubs is not a Bruce fan...jeez, what's up with that???? but like I said, I can always go again!  Also I had read a few other reviews on line and they said they were disappointed to not get to listen to the music associated with each display...huh!!??? They must have been deaf!! The no photos deal was sooo hard, I wanted to take pics sooo bad!  It was tedious to read all the small tags on each item, but hey, nobody says you gotta read them ALL!!
