July 4th

MMM the milk weeds sure smell good!
 

I was at work on the 2nd of July and there were fireworks!

I was working in about the highest part of the plant so it was a good view!

Back to work!!

Then on the 3rd of July we had our local fireworks!

I like that I get a pretty good view from our deck!

No corwds and no traffic!

DD and her beau and kiddos went with me out to the Amana Firecracker 4th Antique sale on the 3rd too.

And we went over to Mt Vernon for the Nitty Gritty antique sale there...but we got rained out pretty hard!

Little Drew was happy to go inside one of the shops there-out of the rain!

THe Amana show was a good hot day so it was good it was inside air conditioned building!

Here's little Drew, Hayden and Hailey being bored, but still hanging in with the boring adults!

I loved this cookie jar, but I was afraid to p;ick it up to see how much!

This pink pitcher was $1100. Yup, that's what I thought too!

I'm still working on this...it's a pretty labor intensive bunch of blocks!

Visiting Polly Ann's

 I took my sister over to Mt Vernon last Saturday-I got fabric-she did not. Anyways, we stopped by the other shops in the Old School there. A couple of antique shops, a flower and decor shop and a vintage clothing shop. Then across the street is Polly Ann's Antiques.

 The little house is just packed with all kinds of fun things!

 the basement is full of manly stuff.....

 and there is kitchen stuff everywhere-honestly, I couldn't take enough pictures to do it justice.

I ended up with a few pairs of scissors...to add to the collection, you know.

 This pair was kind of interesting, it says Hargreaves Smith & Co Sheffield

on the blade it says Cast Steel. They actually cut pretty well, and Google thinks they might be about 100years old! Anyways, it was a nice day to get out with my sister-we'll have to do it again soon!

A Quilt Shop Visit & A Finish!

 This is the Old School in Mount Vernon, Iowa. It is filled with little businesses, including a Quilt SHOP!! YAY!!!!! Helios Stitches & Stuff is located here and I stopped by last Sunday...just for a minute....

 I went on a great day-it's sale day at Helio's! Here's their LINK. Look at all this fabric, out in the hall, like it got in trouble for talking in class....

 It's fun to see the old building stocked with shops in the classrooms!  There's a florist and an antique shop and a fitness center and a little gift shop too.

 But I really didn't have a lot of time I was on a mission to get backing for the Choose Your Own Adventure QAL quilt that I had finished. Here's what I came home with! AND only $5 a yard on sale!!!

 Yes, I bought Kaffe Fassett fabric...for ONLY $5 a YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And here's the finished quilt!

 I used almost every bit of peachy colored fabric that I had!

 I also used up that turquoise colored fabric that I had on hand from my last visit to the Minnesota wonderland that is SR Harris Fabrics. Hmmm, might be time for another visit to MCR!

 It's far from perfect! But it's the first time for a medallion quilt and the Choose Your Own Adventure QAL was fun to follow. Here's the LINK to Oda May's Choose Your Own Adventure QAL at Moda Bakeshop for you to make your own!!

 You probably don't see the mistakes, but I do and I really don't care! I just chuckle and think "how the heck could I put those arrows on the wrong way?!" I quilted it on friendly little Bernie the Bernina-I don't think I'm getting to be a better quilter, but I sure do like to finish!

 I used almost all fabric on hand too! I only purchased a little bit more of the peach color so I'd have enough for the binding, which does look good I think!

And the glamor shot-it was such a nice day yesterday morning, but the humidity was awful by the afternoon! On to the next project! Christmas is coming!!
