Another Baby Quilt Finished

I still can't get over just how pretty these flowers are! 

 I just love the roses-they are opening a little more every day.

 Anyways, Darling Daughter has a co worker who has a new baby girl, so a Baby Quilt is needed!

 I used my favorite star block from over at cluck cluck sew, no point stars. And selected the pinks from my stash. And then added the green to coordinate with the cute bicycle print.

 Ringo "helped" me cut the border strips. He keeps laying on my work when he thinks I need to be paying him more attention!

 There, I added the little sashing strips with corner stones, and the the bicycle print border.

 Pretty darn cute! Now I'm going to see how my magnets do on this larger quilt. Outside I go to spray baste.

 So far so good, there's a little breeze, but the magnets hold the backing fabric nice and secure.

 After a light spray of adhesive, the batting sticks great. I moved the magnets on top of the batting on the top edge to keep it in place a little better with the light breeze.

 And then another light spray and the top goes on. And it's all good!

 Yay! The magnets are holding like champs!

 The magnets work great! I do wish my garage door was smooth, but the small textured box shapes are pretty wasy to smooth over. No wrinkles!

 And here's the finish! I used a mix of the greens to make enough binding.

 It turned out so cute!

 I do love this little girly quilt. It measures about 36"X45" and has a nice soft feel after a quick wash.

Off she goes to the new baby!

Wow! February Flew By!!

So I got this snow cleared away on Friday, and now we're getting more. Deep Sigh!!
After i took the long arm class I figured I better finish the only project I have going so I'd have something to practice on.

I couldn't decide what to do when I posted about this quilt back in ...YIKES November 2012!!!...here.
So I went with the light yellow plaid-ish. I just need to get the back pieced and I'll be ready to go long arm practice on Friday...If I'm not buried in the snow!!!
Thank goodness Bob is helping, he's a cat iron.

The Reversible Adjustable Bag

had a nice looking tote bag on their blog the other day. I like the curve style on the top. Well the blog is pretty much an attempt to translate from some kind of Asian language into English. Not the best when trying to follow directions. 

"Make a snip on the seam allowance 1″ below seam (b). Remark: I reserved 1″ seam allowance for (b), but I trimmed it to about 1/2″ later.
Fold in the side seam and press. Top stitch near side edges (a).
Slot in square ring either on tote side of lining side, with right side facing, sew alone seam (b)."    I don't have a clue what she's talking about but I'm pretty smart, haha... I mean it's a bag not an evening gown.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

I don't have square rings, but these D rings ought to do fine.

 To use up the scraps I think I'll make the inside pocket shaped like the curve at the top...YAY! no more scraps.

The original tutorial makes a big deal out of making these ring tabs match the reversibility of the bag. I'm just not that picky!

But here's a reversible ring tab. Oh Boy...whatever.

And a finished bag. Took about an hour, not too bad. I like the strap tie idea best.
Drafting the pattern from the tutorial's drawing is not a good thing. It's pretty obvious that the tutorial's strap is a lot longer than  the 40" it says on the PDF page.  But it's a pretty good idea anyways and I got rid of the last of that print fabric!

 I better stop putting it off and get the SFO work done now. .
