Spray Basted & Finished

I wanted to use up this cute dog Christmas fabric. It's been calling my name for a while. 

I think it will be a nice gift, come December.

I used the Helios pattern from A OK designs called Eclipse. Here's a Link.

But I sewed the blocks so all the dogs would be right side up so the pattern is a little bit different than the original.

So at least the dogs are all right side up! I also added a different border to get a little bit larger size.

And here it is out on the deck. 

I pieced the back using some different fabric, that I wish I had thought to use instead of the aqua, but it still looks fine!

I also didn't think clearly how to make the corner stones so they would be opposites in the corners. 

I just made all four the same-hey, I was just winging it at this point.

Still it feels nice and cozy, ready for gifting, come Christmas!

 

DONE!

 Way back in September, I finished and sandwiched this, 54-40 or Fight Freestyle-from the Missouri Star Quilt Company, quilt. I started to quilt it on my faithful Bernina machine, but alas...a sad moment when Bernie came to a jarring, grinding halt. I folded the quilt up and went machine shopping. That's another Post though.....

 And here we go! I finished this big beautiful quilt!

 I pinned it up in the tree in the backyard, as the dogs tried to sleep on a corner of it.....go play you guys!
I love how it finished!

 Hubs and DD both disagree-they like matchy-matchy.

 But I love the scrappy variety of color this time. It looks so complicated, but was pretty easy to make! I might even make another one...another time!

 And Bob approves of the back too! I LOVE that backing fabric-I got it over at Helio's in Mt Vernon, Iowa. It was on sale of course! Love that store!

I'm just so glad to get it finished-I really don't like having unfinished projects around-crafty guilt!
And I donated the barn quilt to the church bazaar and they got $100 for it! WOW! Now I feel better about that. I really liked it a lot, I'm glad someone else did too!

Another Finish in the Mail

Here's another quilt for my dear SIL to gift her grand daughter.

 This was a new pattern I got,It's called Helio's Helix and is from AOK Patterns. I thought it would be pretty with the large flower print. THese patterns use a method to select fabric. See like this....

But it cuts up the big print, so I don't think it looks as great as I had hoped.

 It's still pretty, and will be cozy with the 80-20 batting I'm using.

 There's the Bratgirl2 embroidery! I used my little Brother machine this time-Bernie is in the hospital, but I'm going to go get him tomorrow!

 Here it is all finished, washed and ready to pack up!

 I do like this quilt, just am disappointed in the use of the large print.

 I'm sure Bratgirl2 will love it too, especially because it's from her Gramma!

A Finish-Out of the Box Quilt

 So, I was asked to make quilts for my darling SILs grown up grands. I went seeking a pattern for the first one. SIL described this one for a grand daughter as Boho...oh good-scrappy! I came across this pattern

in this magazine and I think it will be great!

 Here are the blocks I'm laying them out...which way is the best?  hmmmm

So here they are sewn together.

 She also requested that the grands nick name is incorporated somehow too. SO I just embroidered it on with the handy alphabet on Bernie.

 We are basting! And it's hot in the afternoon sun!

 This quilt looks so bright and happy!

 I'm in love with it. I might even make another one.

 I was lucky enough to have time to go over to Helio's fabric shop over in Mt Vernon and found this fabulous fabric for the back!I love love love it!

 And all quilted together. I had a major malfunction as I was quilting. Poor Bernie is in the hospital aka the sewing center. I don't know if I'm planning a funeral or budgeting for an extended stay in rehab. Anyway, I finished meandering on my back up machine.

 It looks great! Love that backing fabric!

 And good looking corners too! After a little wash it's in the mail. I hope they all love it as much as I do! I sent a note telling SIL that if she hated it to send it back. Hubs says that will not be happening. He even commented how much he likes it!

A Quilt Shop Visit & A Finish!

 This is the Old School in Mount Vernon, Iowa. It is filled with little businesses, including a Quilt SHOP!! YAY!!!!! Helios Stitches & Stuff is located here and I stopped by last Sunday...just for a minute....

 I went on a great day-it's sale day at Helio's! Here's their LINK. Look at all this fabric, out in the hall, like it got in trouble for talking in class....

 It's fun to see the old building stocked with shops in the classrooms!  There's a florist and an antique shop and a fitness center and a little gift shop too.

 But I really didn't have a lot of time I was on a mission to get backing for the Choose Your Own Adventure QAL quilt that I had finished. Here's what I came home with! AND only $5 a yard on sale!!!

 Yes, I bought Kaffe Fassett fabric...for ONLY $5 a YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And here's the finished quilt!

 I used almost every bit of peachy colored fabric that I had!

 I also used up that turquoise colored fabric that I had on hand from my last visit to the Minnesota wonderland that is SR Harris Fabrics. Hmmm, might be time for another visit to MCR!

 It's far from perfect! But it's the first time for a medallion quilt and the Choose Your Own Adventure QAL was fun to follow. Here's the LINK to Oda May's Choose Your Own Adventure QAL at Moda Bakeshop for you to make your own!!

 You probably don't see the mistakes, but I do and I really don't care! I just chuckle and think "how the heck could I put those arrows on the wrong way?!" I quilted it on friendly little Bernie the Bernina-I don't think I'm getting to be a better quilter, but I sure do like to finish!

 I used almost all fabric on hand too! I only purchased a little bit more of the peach color so I'd have enough for the binding, which does look good I think!

And the glamor shot-it was such a nice day yesterday morning, but the humidity was awful by the afternoon! On to the next project! Christmas is coming!!
