Argggg Matey!

 I've had these pirate fabrics in my stash for a while now. SO when DD told me that I needed to have a baby boy quilt ready for Saturday...yes today I mean...I sprang into action! I had been reading on a few quilt blogs that some folks are being rebels and serging some quilts. I thought , what's faster than serging? Answer: Nothing!!

 So I laid out a simple strip piece idea and serged the whole thing together.  I have enough of the busy giant pirate print to do a solid fabric back too! Faster than fast!

It took 15 minutes to serge all the seams together. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!! Of course now DD tells me they have changed the baby shower date, phew, I will do the rest of the assembly later!!LOL!

A First

I get asked to sew things for other folks from time to time. Remember the swing seat cover for a patio swing? Yup, so I wasn't surprised when my church's VBS (that's vacation Bible school, for those not in the know) leader said, "hey there is something you could make for me", when I asked if she had all she needed. A pirate captain hat.

Well I guess I get the idea....
So after seeing this Mama Bee's blog, I followed her lead and

sewed the trim on to some fluffy felt I had on hand,

Added the ol skull & crossbones...

And TA DA! Hope it fits the captain!
