WOW! New Appliances

So this has been my reliable old friend for many years! I've had this washer for over 15 years, the dryer a little bit les-maybe 10 years. My Kenmore appliances from Sears have been great, I've had to make a few small repairs, a switch , a belt, nothing to awful, but the belt is going again in the dryer-bits of it are sticking out in the drum. SO I went shopping. At Sears/K-Mart on line. We don't have a physical store near us-they do still exist I hear. 
 

SO I shopped on line (actually at Kmart.com) and found a set that looks like it will fit the space (yes, I measured) and has everything I want. I ordered it and scheduled delivery on line-I am confident it will be great!

The washer is the kind with no agitator, and it senses the correct water level to put in just enough water to wash whatever size load it has. I can watch it though the lid too! The dryer has a sensor too and it dries so fast compared to my old dryer. And it's huge-with a light inside! 

The only thing that was kind of annoying was that I ordered the take away of the old appliances, and they didn't take them the same day. The old appliance pick up wasn't until a week later.  Same guys, same truck came back and got them though-kind of annoying.  I hope this new Kenmore set will last as long as the old one did! 

Saturday-Time to Get Out There

 So, there was an auction over near Swisher this morning, and they listed a sewing machine and large quantities of fabric. So of course I had to go have a look.

 It was a Wears Auction-so cute little Emily Wears-who is the current auctioneer on Storage Wars on TV, was there working alongside her Dad. Guess I could have gotten a little bit closer...poor photography skills!

 There was a lot of stuff-I wonder how much Black Velvet Jesus went for?

 The person who's estate was being auctioned was crafty-back in the day-remeber Ar-Tex? Paint tubes to draw on fabric?

 And all I can say is, this is when fabric hoarding goes all wrong. All of these bins-plus more on the hay racks, were full of fabric. Vintage fabric. I'd say mostly 1970's. a lot of double knit. Not nice beautiful quality fabric, no, it was almost all the kind you might see in the bargain $1 a yard bin.

 So that was a disappointment, so I didn't stick around to see the sadness. On my way from the auction there was a tractor ride going through! Probably 30 or more tractors out for a ride! Always fun to see! Then I popped over to my work's annual Dividend Day Picnic. Free lunch!

 Then stopped at Costco to get a few things. Look at the score I made on light bulbs!! $2.49 for a box of 6 LED bulbs!! YAY!!

 Then got home and hung some laundry out-Bob helped.  When I was a kid, my Mom hung laundry out on the line and it smelled sooo good. So thinking my laundry would smell that good, I hung it out on my dandy little clothesline-yes I tied it to the fence post-don't judge... But my laundry doesn't smell like anything. Not good or bad, just nothing.

 SO this week, I think I got it figured out. It's not the hanging out that smells good, it's DOWNY!! I didn't use Downy last week, and I did this week and yup-that's the smell I remember!!I thought Global Warming or something was messing with the air. Phew! What a relief!

Then mowed the lawn-it was a little tall-my gardener has been working and otherwise occupied so I had to do it my self. The dogs can find their toys now. Now I'm tired. And Hot.

Learning....

So, I have been trying to figure out how to have posts post automatically on this blog. I have had limited success, but I'll get it eventually. I thought I had posted the clothes dryer story, but I don't see it so...
My Uber son and my girlfriend-in-law needed a new clothes dryer.....they had repaired their dryer several times and then something else would go wrong with it, they'd fix that and then something else would break. In the mean time lovely girlfriend-in -law was loading up wet laundry and heading over to her Gramma's house to dry it. Not much fun when it's twenty below zero and snowing!!!
So hubs and me said, let's do it! I went on line to Lowe's and shopped for the biggest dryer I could get. Placed the order, and then realized I didn't see a place to put where I wanted it delivered to, so I called my local Lowe's. The very helpful person told me they was an inventory issue with the dryer I ordered and they didn't have it. SO quickly scanning the shopping web page I asked if they had another model I could see on line in stock, she said yes, and then I asked could I get it for the same price as the original one. Guess what? She said yes!!!! YAY!!

SO I got a great dryer for a great price, except they couldn't deliver for 2 weeks! Oh NO! lovely girlfriend-in-law can't haul wet laundry for 2 more weeks-We'll pick it up, but can I get an additional discount since you couldn't accommodate me I bravely ask? And you know what? She said yes-and took another 10% off! YAY!!!! So thank you Lowe's for making life good once again for Uber son and Lovely girlfriend-in-law.
So Uber son and I picked it up the next day and then the fun really started......we hauled the old dryer out into the yard..yup-you may be a redneck....

 Of course the door closer sticks out too far, so Uber son removes that and we ease the new dryer into the house.Did I mention it was -20 degrees outside and the wind was gusty?

 Ok now we're getting there. Did I mention that the washer & Dryer are in the basement? Well the new dryer was just a titch too big so we removed the handrail and then carefully, carefully eased the dryer down the stairs. Phew that's done. Next we tipped the dryer over on it's front-on top of a peice of the cardboard box-and made the power cord connections. and attached the little feet too.

Uber son attached the venting and we slid this beauty into place!

Wow! Look at that! She is lovely!

Look a light inside! It was a struggle to get her down those steps but sooo worth it!  And then we moved the old dryer out of the front yard, yes I have my limitations about what can be in the front yard! Then replaced all the things we had to remove and then relax while the dryer does its work!!

Laundry

Some folks think the computer is the greatest invention of the 21st century. Me, well I vote for indoor plumbing and washing machines. It's not that I have a fancy model or anything, but I sure do appreciate it everyday. Take this pile of T shirts. Do you think I could stack them this tall without a washing machine? NOT!! I won't get started with "how many T shirts does a teenage boy need?"........At least he changes his shirt regularly & laundry is done for today, well at least for a few minutes!!
