Soup's On!

So my church's 2nd ever Chili cook off and soup supper fundraiser was a kind of a dud. But it's always good to share food with folks anyways. My spousal Unit was so good and made all of this,
Into this
Delicious vegetable soup. He roasted the vegetables, and what a bunch of vegetables there was! I told him it was good to keep his knife skills sharp....har-har yuckity yuck! He made the vegetable stock-no can or box in this baby!
We had a ton of delicious desserts-those chocolate brownies were the seriously BEST.
And we had the best contestants for the chili cook off. Not a bad chili in the bunch and all were so individual. So wonderful! And such a nice variety of contestants. Everyone has such a good time. We are so lucky to have such a nice group of people in our church who are willing to come out and serve. We get everyone-young families, and older ladies and everything in between-it's a beautiful thing!
I love how we have many different generations working together to serve the supper. Here's DD sharing a laugh with Darling Edna. She is such a champ-she washed dishes & pots and pans until the last spoon was sparkling! Oh and DD is pretty good too! She is such a kind and generous server.
Mmmm, good chili was had by all.

Letters, never ending letters...

So my church has this big rolling sign that gets totted out to the hiway every time we have an event.

To share information you have to spell each word...letter, by letter, by letter...
OK so one little problem... It's a Supper BAZAAR & Auction.
There that's better.
Across the street is the falling down corn crib-it's like a land mark on the corner.

Chili Cook Off & Soup Supper

Well I gotta say I'm glad that's done. I've been busy getting my church's Soup Supper & Chili cook off organized. It went off really well!! YAY!!  Here's our pal Val & DD enjoying the chili samples.
I was so thrilled! We had 10 different chilies entered and this was the 1st year we tried it! The enthusiasm was awesome! Here's Heavy Kevie-his chili was excellent with lots of add on goodies.
Here's Millie. SHe made white chili aka chicken chili. I told her it should be Millie vanillie Chili!!LOL
And this young man with the kiss the cook apron was set to win the whole shebang but was overtaken at the last moment. Adam and his Chili wanna be will be a wanna be next year I'm sure!
Look at the back-see there's Bill with his signs pushing for his favorite chili wanna be! Poor Jill in the foreground was about as tired as can be after a long day of traveling. I'm so glad she could make it!
A very fun time was had by all. And a pretty good fundraiser for the church!

Church Supper, Bakesale bazaar & Auction

SO you remember a couple of weeks ago my church had it's bazaar bakesale & auction. here are a few shots from that event. Here's the bakesale table, the ladies do such a nice job helping folks with all the yummy baked goods.
Before the dinner all the helpers are in the kitchen , well, helping!
Then the auction after supper, it was such fun, one of our members brother was our auctioneer this year and boy does he have a nice sense of humor!!!
We had a really good turn out and fun was had by all!!
