The Blue Churn Dash Quilt

Well after all the drama with this vintage quilt top, I just took the best of the blue churn dash blocks and made one quilt. 

I chose a simple design for the quilting design, clovers. 

And wouldn't you know it, I look away for one second, and the foot gets caught on a block! I'll have to fix it later, I guess.

It really came out nice! 

These are some of the blocks that I didn't use.

I posted them on line and sold them for $20. Who would have guessed. 

The finished quilt looks good! 

I kept the original sashing, but added a new border on the outer edge. 

And then I used some of the other odd blocks on the back. 

I think the pieced backing seems appropriate. 

It's a good finish! 

 

Another Project Complete.....but First,

 It occurred to me I mentioned the blue practice quilt in my previous post but I didn't show it to you! Here's the practice piece I talked about....

It's just a small practice quilt-I wanted to see if using fleece on the backing was going to be hard. It wasn't.

It's only about 40" square, but I really liked the way the design looks on the fleece! 

I pieced the fleece together and the seam didn't seem to cause an issue while quilting either. SO a good practice quilt!

You can really see the quilting design on the back while it's rolled up on the back rail. 

SO now on to the next project!
