Pinterest Winner, Winner Potluck Dinner

 SO, Sunday was the annual family reunion potluck lunch, so I ,of course, sought out a pinterest idea for a great dish. The rule is always this-make something you like, that way if nobody eats it you're not stuck with something icky. SO sliders seem to be the latest in food trends, Here's the link to the recipe from Land O Lakes.

It took longer to assemble these little things than it did to bake and eat them! I used both Swiss and American slices, 1/4 of each, and 1.5 slices of ham for each sandwich. Easy as can be. I changed the recipe and used 2 Tablespoons of honey instead of brown sugar in the butter sauce.  I tucked them snugly in the pan and drizzled the melted honey butter over the top and put them in the fridge overnight.

I made a pan for mom & dad too. They were a hit at the pot luck! I only had maybe 4 of them left-we had a pretty small turnout or I think they would all have been gone! I'm so glad to have a pinterest win!!

She likes a wreath on her front door, so I replied to her pin and said SHE could make that easy peasy! SO I picked up a few supplies-like a grapevine wreath and started the project.

 Here's the first trial layout....

 And here's another version, and then DD came over and started to work!

 My plan worked perfectly!!!

 She made these little flowers from T shirt scraps, and added a little glittery ribbon. I ran the hot glue gun.

Lost in Pinterest

So I should be packing for vacation-we are going to St. Louis this weekend-don't come rob our house, now that you know....
Anyways, I was just googleing a couple of things and of course I had to check in with Pinterest....

I guess, I missed something when I didn't look at Pinterest for a week...Christmas is coming! Already?!

OK, well I can get in the Ho Ho Ho spirit! I think I'll get some Christmas fabric while I'm on vacation! LOL!

Pinterest Attempt Plus Pantene

So you've seen these ideas for shower cleaners on Pinterest right?

I decided to try it out. I got a spray bottle and added white vinager, and then just a little bit of Dawn dish soap. 

I emptied all the stuff out of the shower...jeez, It sure seems like a lot of bottles in there...anyways, then I sprayed the entire shower about 2 hours before I went to take a shower myself. A little vinegar stinky, but I shut the door and it was ok.

 So take a look! It really did work well! I just used an old rag to scrub with and it came out pretty darn good. I haven't seen a Pinterest post about how to manage seeing in the shower without ones glasses on..... So I did miss a few small areas, but all in all I am pretty happy with this. Next time I'll do a little bit more Dawn because the areas I missed were pretty grimy.
Hey while I'm hanging out in the shower, have you seen this New-ish Pantene? I am in love with Pantene again! You know I hated Pantene for a time, when they changed the formula-you'd think they would have learned from Coca-Cola trying to make the public take to "new" Coke...anyways, this is really nice shampoo! You know I work for P&G, and we make Pantene at the manufacturing plant where I work in Iowa CIty, but I don't always like what we make, but I do like this Pantene Smooth & Sleek with argan oil. I actually bought this bottle of shampoo at the store!  Must be the argan oil that makes it so smooth and bubbly, and nice on my hair. Here comes the hashtag to comply with my employer's Social Media policy... #pgemp

 OK so now you know! The Pinterest shower cleaner works and Pantene Smooth and Sleek with Argan Oil is really nice shampoo. 

Pinterest Strikes Again!

Two Peas In A Bucket
and I thought it was such a cute idea, I knew I could do this too!

 I had this frame that has been stashed in my closet for a long time..thanks Mom!

 I kind of eyeballed where my photos would need to be and put in staples on the backside of the frame.

 I tied some string through the staples, I wasn't sure if the strings would stretch and sag, so I left some tails so I could tighten if needed.

 Then I got some of these little tiny clothes pins from Hobby Lobby.

And I test pinned some pictures to see if I had the strings placed level and fairly straight.

So I think it looks pretty good! I pinned some pictures from our trip to Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon I blogged about that trip here.

I sure don't like the color of my wall the way it looks in these photos. It is so much brighter!

Local Business Love...Bootleggers

We have a new business in Oxford Iowa! Bootleggers Antique Warehouse opened a short time ago. They are on the alley across from the fire station. I stopped there last Sunday... look at all the good stuff!

 They have a little bit of everything! I feel like I just walked into the Pinterest page called Shabby-chic -antiques-vintage-awesomeness!

And look I went back there today and now it's mine!

Isn't this a sweet little corner bookshelf! Yes, thank you, I love it.  Here's the link To Bootleggers Antique Warehouse. I will need to visit them to see what else is new!

Pinterest Project

So I saw this idea on Pinterest, linked HERE and HERE.
Since the blinds in Uber Son's room were in tatters, I thought it would be a great place to try it out.

So I had to fix the top rail, a little of the handy-man-secret-weapon, and we'll get this experiment going! I didn't take a pic of the horrible condition of the blinds, but let's just say I was lucky to have 6 slats that weren't cracked or broken.

I bought some fabric off the clearance rack and it will do just fine, and I'm doing this on the cheap.

SO I followed the tutorials, and used tacky glue, because it's what I had on hand. And after getting glue in my hair, getting a rug burn on my elbow and realizing, I'm too old to be crawling around on the floor, I got it done!

Not bad. I saw some of the tutorials that sewed the hems, which would look a lot better and I don't think the tacky glue was a great choice, it kind of shows up close. But the idea is pretty cool and using the hardware from the cheap-o mini blind is an excellent idea!
