Never Ending House Maintenance

Here's the branch that has me worried.....

So after one of the windy storms came through, the Mulberry tree in the back yard had a broken branch in the middle. I called around to find someone who could come cut it out and hopefully save the tree.  

The Tree Guys came and trimmed a few branches and got the big limb off the center. 

They brought in a good sized cherry picker, so the guy in the basket could get up in the tree. 

This is where the swings that the kids all love so much and it makes a really good shady place for Dilly's sandbox. 

They ended up putting in two cable braces, that will hopefully keep any other limbs from swaying too far and breaking off. 

Here's the finished job. Now they'll trim a few branches from the maple tree out front to get away from the house a little bit better. And it was only, $1950.00 it's a lot, but it was a pretty big job too. 

And we had the folks from Affordable Heating and Cooling come out and give the furnace a once over before winter hits. 

We had a capacitor that tested bad, so had it replaced, then the tech took a look at the heat exchanger...uh boy....

see all that crud?  It's not supposed to be there....

That got all cleaned up and the furnace is ready for the cold weather, and for only another $470. Worth every penny. I won't have to worry about no heat on the coldest day of the year!

 

Getting Things Done

 This looks like nothing, doesn't it. 

We got the driveway sealed on Wednesday. See the fat footed cat prints? We all know that Iris was here. And oddly enough, there are bird foot prints too! 

About a week ago I started clearing out the storage facility-which is what we call the spare bed room that used to be Dannie's room many years ago. I'm making room for a new sewing machine!

And today, here we go! Ready for the new machine to move in this week.

I also stopped over to Fairfax for their city wide yard sales. It was so busy with traffic and folks parking every which way!

Lots of good sales, gotta love commerce!

I got shorts for Drew-not more than $1.50 a pair and also a pair of swim trunks!

And at home I completed a repair for the space station. 

This space capsule blew out it's support pockets for the upright poles!

I made new pockets from scrap leather-that outta hold er!

It ain't pretty but it should hold up well!

This little astronaut will be having fun in no time!

Clean Up

 So, I spent almost all day Saturday cleaning out the garage. Man! You wouldn't believe all the crud that accumulates out there!

 SO I got that going along pretty well. Moved the snowblower to the back of the garage and rolled the lawnmower out front...fingers crossed!

 I also worked on some flyers for the latest project to help out our little business person and her ilk AND make a little money for our church too!

And then on Sunday Easter eggs! My Girlfriend-in-law's Grampa Died suddenly on Easter Sunday, so the youngsters didn't get to go and hunt eggs. But they were already out in the yard soooo DD and her hubs helped me hunt them down! Such fun! Don't you like the way I take a selfie of my ARM!
