Busy Times

 SO I got the burn pile under control! The first burn took us down pretty well, but look here!

We're down to the ground! No more brush pile here!

There was a small mishap with the lawn mower....my hose is now about 3' shorter now than it was before. 

When I went to Albion, I stopped at the Presbyterian Church. They are now closed. They were having a yard sale. It's a sad thing, but is getting to be a common occurance. This was my childhood church, and I loved the windows.

And the big organ-it never was used as I remeber it, but I heard that it does operate. 

This stereo set up was used to play carrilion music-from LP records- through speakers in the church steeple. It was only on a few special occasions, like Christmas, but the music sounded so cool as I remember it anyways!

It's a really beautiful sanctuary, I hope it gets sold to someone for a venue or somehintg.  The curved pews are so pretty. 

They have pew cusions now! That's an improvment-you'd think that would get some folks into the seats!

The small office rooms all have stained glass windows too. This was a Sunday Schol classroom for awhile when I was a kid. 

And here's the problem...

With only a dozen or so people in church any given Sunday, you can't even pay the electric bill with that attendance, let alone pay a pastor.  It's a big loss for the community-there is no church now and no school. That's a death toll for the town I think, lucky they are not a bad location for commuting for work in bigger towns. 

ANd this guy was being helpful and using the magnet roller to pick up nails from the brush pile ashes. He's pretty good help. 

And very busy help too!

The water is always a favorite-it was crazy hot the last few days.

Time to upgrade from the triccyle-he calls it his e bike-I've got a new bike ordered for him!

There is Beer Here

 So one time, while shop hopping, I bought some beer fabric. I'm not sure why, but it's really cool looking fabric and my thought was to make a quilt for my Hubby's American Legion Bar to raffle off at their next fundraiser. Well, the bar closed so I'm not sure where this little pretty is going. 

All those little squares with funny beer sayings on them.

And I used a different quilting design-I like it! It's one of the built in designs on Freddie. 

And the back with more beer sayings. I like the back as much as the front!

It finished at about 60x65 ish, so a good cuddle on the couch size or a car quilt. 

Another finish, so I can start another one! And no more beer fabric!

And the nice weather has had this guy outdoors! He took his shoes off in the sand box and figured he was good to go.

I hope mama has his tetnus shot up to date!LOL!!!

He does love the swing, High gramma, high!

Screwdriver Fun

So this guy has been obsessed with doing laundry. OK.  He also likes the hats and gloves in the bin on the dryer....note the  Uncle ben hat! The other day while watching the water run in, he noticed that there are screws on the light switch plate. 

He ran and got the screwdriver and stood on his little step stool and proceeded to take them all out.

We had a discussion about putting them all back in and NO he could not take out the screws that hold the switch in! 

A few days later the new license plate came for Grampa's car, so OH BOY! Another chance to use the screwdriver! 
What a clever boy!
 

Playground Weather

 The first week of January brought some unseasonably warm weather around 50degrees! So we made the most of a couple days and hit the playgrounds.

This is one of my favorite playgrounds, it's just a few blocks from Aunt Jean and Uncle ben's house and is great because it has the padded playground surface. It's like rubber padding, and so it's never muddy and you never have sand or pebbles or wood chips in your shoes.

See the nice surface, when you walk on it, it's like walking on puffy slippers!

He's so cute! Love that dimple smile!

Two days of play! WOW!

This is Kent Park, which is closer to home, but it has the wood chips. Still an excellent playground. 

Snowpants are a must at any winter playground, not only because it's chilly, but the slides always have dew or melted snow on them!

Nice to look back on these days since tomorrow the high is supposed to be 3 degrees.

Snow! Snow! Snow!

 

We got the first snow right after Thanksgiving and it seems like we go a few days of nice weather and then more snow.

Ringo likes it well enough!

And I'm sure glad I got the heat track mats out when I did! 

This little guy wasn't quite ready for the first snow

He didn't bring his snow boots and he didn't pack his snow pants and hat. Luckily, I had one of ben's old hats, and some littler knit gloves and he had his hiker shoes, so it wasn't terrible. 

Here's what he does.....

Goes out and eats snow.

I keep telling him he's not a dog, but still, he loves to eat snow. Watch for that yellow snow though Dilly Boy!

And don't call DHS on me either-he always pops out the door without a coat on......and yesterday it was in PJs and slippers!

It was only about 20degrees out, but he wanted to go out so he took off FAST! Well at least he had Grampa's hat on!!LOL!

I had to chase him around to the back of the house before I caught up to him!

There we go, all outfitted correctly!
