It's not Summer Without Baseball

My employer, from whom I retired, still gives out tickets to retirees!  So we loaded up and headed to the Kernel's Game!

Dilly and Mommy were busy....

And the big kids all had fun-Hayden wanted to find the camera guy so he could get on the big jumbo screen. 

Drew got the foam finger and they all cheered for the Kernels.

But look who got on the jumbo Screen!

Yup, there's our boy Dylan!

Poor Hayden-didn't stand a chance with this kind of cuteness!

 

Wisconsin Vacation Part 1- Miller Park

 Day one of our little Wisconsin vacation took us to Miller Park to watch the Brewers take on the Seattle Mariners. This is an amazing stadium!

 I bought the tickets on line and also bought a parking pass. It was totally worth the $17! We were about two rows from the entrance!

 Aren't those giant cement baseballs cool!

 There are all kinds of food and drinks available throughout the building-I had a brat, it was ok. Hubs had a Miller-tall boy-it was $7.

 It was a perfect evening for the game, cool, a little breeze, not too hot.

 Here's the one issue I had. I took this photo from our seats in the handicap section. That equipment in the upper left of the picture, blocked my view of the scoreboard-completely. A great view of the field, but the scoreboard was a no. That was disappointing.

 I wanted to point out to a certain little girl at home that cotton candy at Miller Park was $4.50.

 The Brewers did not win, but we had a good time anyways.

 This is truly a fabulous place for baseball.

Off to the motel we go!

Baseball & The Eclipse

So I took the Gingers to watch the Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Eclipse at the same time!

 They had a noon game special, hot dogs were only $1! We got there early and had to wait in line for a little while....but we wanted to get the eclipse glasses they were giving away at the gate!

 They kept each other entertained.....

and in line.....

 And we had great seats for the game, too bad the weather didn't cooperate very well with the eclipse!

 But how bad could it be, as long as there is ice cream?!

 As the eclipse progressed, tit got dark enough that the field lights turned on. It was pretty cloudy though, so it was hard to see much of the actual eclipse.

Ice cream face didn't keep her from watching the eclipse...at least what could be seen of it.
The sun was actually, right there!

 After the game-which had a very exciting double play to end with a win for the Kernels- the Gingers wanted to have photo ops with the memorial tank in front of Veteran's Stadium....

 They are pretty photogenic, don't you think?

 Hams, one and all, I say!

 A great day at the ball park overall....and an eclipse for the ages!

At The Ol' Ballgame

The annual pilgrimage to the Kernels game was just a little bit damp this year. But look, see that guy sitting at the table? Signing autographs? That's Rod Carew-he's a famous ball player-even I know that! He had a line all the way down the concourse waiting for him. I feel so bad for his writing hand!

 Since Uber Son had to work, and Hubs thought it was too hot, DD and girlfriend-in-law went to the game with me along with DD's friend and his kiddo.

 Aren't they cute! The Cedar Rapids Kernels get off to a good start-look we had great seats on the 3rd base line! Hi Mr. Shucks!

 Uh Oh...clouds are moving in......

 Things are looking a little bit dreary..... then Whoosh, the rain let loose!!! DD and her pals were wimps and left! Not me and Girlfriend-in-law though! We are good fans!

 We got pretty damp, then they pulled out the tarp so we headed up top to wait it out.

After resuming play, the rains came again so we called it quits. We were ahead when we left and YAY! Kept the lead when the game was called after the 5th inning.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

So it was the annual visit to Perfect Game Field, Home of the Cedar Rapids Kernels. It was a beautiful evening-nice breeze and not too hot!

Hubs even came to the game!

Ben and his girlfriend & her kiddos all came to the game too!

Fun was had by all-except the Kernels lost 1-0. :-(
