Repairs Continue

 I was heading out of town to go to work the other night and there was a big grass fire South West of town.

It looked like it was across the road, so I turned around and went to work the other way. 

I guess the farmer had it under control, the next day it didn't look like there was any abnormal damage. 

Anyways, I was going to talk about our new downspouts and gutter covers. 

Mr. Gutter-that's the company's name-came out last Saturday and got the downspouts replaced and installed wire covers on top of the gutters.

They installed a larger size and I think that will be a good thing. We often had our gutters running over in heavy rains, so maybe it will help drain it faster.

And I hope the metal stuff keeps the leaves out!

Backyard Time

 Well we had planned to burn the wood pile, but it rained a lot, so we had hot dogs in the house and then went out and had smores and beverages with wood from the store in the fire bowl.

 These little pyromaniacs got the fire going....

 after a couple of false starts.....

 There we go! Nice dry wood from the store is the trick to a good fire today!

 It's always fun to have the kids get the fire going-kind of a science experiment for them!

 And time to relax for the rest of us!

 With the Covid going around it was good to see the family all at once-they are all over occasionally but hardly ever all at once. We are all well so far-hopefully we'll keep it that way!

 And lookie here, the little tomatoes are coming on like gangbusters! They are delicious to eat too!

The full size tomatoes aren't doing much, only about 4 tomatoes on the pants. We'll see if they make it to eating or not.

Backyard Time at Beans

SO over the weekend I was lucky enough to get to roast some marshmallows with Bean & the family. You know Bean... Ben +Jean=Bean.Kids and dogs and marshmallows, what a good time!

Here's Bean! They got a nifty little fire pit-perfect for hot dogs and marshmallows!

The dogs all are wearing these cute red lights-gifts from my favorite Wells Fargo employee!

Yup, those marshmallows look perfect Jean!

What a nice way to spend the evening!

Very Scary Thing to See

Coming home from Iowa City we could see smoke ahead of us. We slowed down as did all the other traffic.

The fire was right on the shoulder of the road. It looked pretty bad.

Turns out it was a motor home that had caught fire. News reports later in the day said that all the people inside had been headed to the Iowa football game and had escaped unharmed.

My gosh! There was nothing left of the motor home. Pretty scary thing to see!

And turned the usual gameday traffic hassles into a gameday parking lot!
