Wall Hanging part 2

So my Wonderful cousin Robin was kinda disappointed that she didn't get the wall hanging, after the game for the gift exchange was changed(I hope we leave it the old way next year!!!) I decided another one could be done....

 

 But this one has a little bonus. See when I got the button can that had belonged to my Grandma, I right away went through them. There were a lot of them! Anyways there was this little token in there and so I thought I'd add it to the wall hanging for Robin. At Christmas we were talking about when this picture was taken and they figured in the 40's and sure enough when I googled the Midwest Transit Line (that's what's on the token) they operated in Ames from 1944 to about 1952. And Mom mentioned that Grandma had worked in Ames in the 40's while Grandpa was overseas. I love it when it all fits together!!

 I think I like this one a little better than the 1st one, it's much simpler and really focuses on the photo since there aren't any quilt blocks like the other one. I kinda felt like Robin might be able to fit a smaller one in here home a little better too. I'm going to get it in the mail tomorrow.

Christmas Gift Exchange

     So, every year we have a family gift exchange-usually at my Aunt's house. We each bring a gift then you can unwrap a gift and it's yours unless the next person wants to "steal" your gift then you can pick another or steal another person's gift...hmmm it almost sounds hostile when you write it down, but it's really very fun. Anyways every year it seems like there is one gift that gets stolen the most-meaning it's "wanted" by folks. So I wanted to have the wanted gift this year.

        So I printed off a photo of my Mom and her family when they were kids, onto fabric.

And sewed up a little wall quilt out of the photo.

I cut the fabric letters out using my Slice machine-I wondered how it would do with fabric, and it worked pretty well.

I embellished with some buttons from my Gramma's button box-that's her on the far right of the photo BTW.

And I quilted it with a quick meandering stitch.

And here it is all done and ready to wrap! I'll have to let you know if it's the wanted one this year or not!

Dogs Trick or Treat

So it's all done!

See I ran the fabric through the printer to make the Happy Halloween Moon.

And here's a little Iowa nod...see all that blanket stitching, I don't think I want to be doing that again anytime soon.

I like the ratty looking stick it's hanging from too. Pretty cute huh!

Phew! Got it done in time!

A pal of mine from work is getting married soon and her bridal shower was today. SO I had to get busy and get a gift done. I made her this wall hanging. I printed photos from her wedding blog site onto fabric and made a quilted wall hanging out of them. I really like the background fabric with the black & white pictures.
I gotta add this edit...it took me pretty much all of my free time for about 5 days to get this baby done. It is pretty cool though. If you haven't ever printed on fabric it is very awesome. Give it a try.
