More Screwdriver Fun....NOT!

So, remember a week ago or so, I had trouble with a screw on Freddie? Well I loaded a quilt and was getting ready to go and guess what? Yup, I hear that scraping noise. GRRRR! Well at least I know how to take it apart and get a look in there. 

I've also got a pretty good method to lift Freddie and put a wood block under her to hold it up so I can see the wheels.  Well, it wasn't the wheels!  

There are these bolts, they hold the carriage to the wheel brackets, and one of them was so loose it was almost falling out! That's what was dragging on the rail!

These are tricky to figure out what to use to screw it down tight! I tried to take a picture and it's impossible to get a good one close up! I used my pliers. Probably not the best, but it's tight now!

SO I got the snowflake quilt loaded. It's a different kind of pattern (to me anyways) here's a link modern handcraft

I updated Freddie to version 6 last time, so I got some new free patterns with that update. This one is called Paisley Popcorn and I like the design a lot.

I need to figure out why my top edge was off a little bit, but no worries, it looks great when it's done!

I'm using a new roll of batting that I got from Linda's Electric Quilters. It's 60% cotton ad 40% poly. I was using Heirloom 80/20 before, but I think I like this better, it seems thicker and smoother. I used it in the mystery quilt and it washed up really nice and fluffy. 

So this pattern is pretty easy, it's just squares and half square triangles. You make 12 big blocks and sew them together!

The back is a flannel sheet. I got a set at Aldi! 

I put the fitted sheet on the couch to since hubs loves to sleep on the couch in front of the TV! And then I used the flat top sheet for the backing!

For a cheap sheet set, these washed up really nice, so I didn't hesitate to use it on my quilt. I had enough to cut binding too! I'm not sure how flannell will wear for binding, but it's all done now!

Swinging With the Boys

We've got swings!

So, I was very thankful that my neighbor, Trevor, helped me hang the chains for these swings in the backyard. 

The baby swing for Dilly, I got it at Aldi quite awhile back, is perfect! Dilly Loves it!

And the round swing was also an Aldi purchase, and Drew LOVES it!

Hard to believe that Dylan is going to be 1soon!

It was also a pretty morning when I was walking Ringo at Kent Park the other morning....doesn't this look like a painting?

And we've been baby sitting quite a bit. This guy's Mommy has been working a bit more to cover for folks at the Quick Care.

He's a big fan of Grampa!

 

Weekly Dilly Round Up

 So, there's a lavender farm near us. They had an open hose type of event so we drove by for a minute-it's sure pretty out there! It's called calyx creek farm.

They have built an event center as well as a showroom to sell their lavender products. And they have an Airbnb rental too. 

We've had Dilly over  a few times. 

He's a ham-point the camera phone at him and he throws on the charm!

He's having himself a cold one! Don't worry-he can't get cans open yet, but he's into everything so it won't be long!

Such a good baby too!

And I think he'll be walking any minute now!

And I got some pretty plastic cups from Aldi so the kids won't have to use the glass glasses. 

And I hit up a few local yard sales in town and found a jadeite bowl! What a nice surprise to add to DD's collection! 

We'll have Dilly a couple days this week, so who knows what will happen!

Out and About to New Aldi and MCR

So, I was noticing that the new Aldi in North Liberty is coming right along!

I popped over to Bella Sala Event Center for the Makers market a couple weeks ago, it was disappointing. Mostly boutique clothing folks. 

Have you noticed the trend towards boutique clothing? Small shops with high priced clothing of , to me at least, dubious quality.  You know it must have been a bust, if I came out without buying anything for Dilly!
 

Low and behold the New Aldi opened on the 2nd! It was pouring rain so I didn't go for the line to win a gift card.

The store is nice-I did get a free bag and a quarter keeper!

Pretty much a basic Aldi, with a slightly different arrangement. The floors are pretty!

And I drove over to visit with my cousin Robin (MCR). She's moving into a new apartment! The area her building is in is really nice, all new area of homes and businesses-restaurants, a bowling alley, Hy Vee and just about everything you could need is within a few blocks.

She just had a few things to move in, at this time, but more is coming!

And the living room area adjoining. There's a nice little balcony out the door to the right.

The building she's in is really pretty-all new! This is the front foyer. There's a library and gathering places for residents to hang out or meet. It also has a pool!

Deck Cushions.

 So, back in July, I got this dandy little cushion for the deck bench. I got it at Aldi. It was $19.99, a little more than I wanted to pay at Aldi, but I've been looking for awhile and was worn down. So I was keeping my eye out for matching chair cushions. When Lovely Jean & Ben came over, she said, couldn't you just cut a bench size in half?  I told her it sounded like a lot of work.......

Well, she was right, here it is August and no chair cushions are to be seen at any Aldi. SO I broke down and bought the bench cushion.....

and took out the stuffing and cut it in half and lookie here......

It wasn't hard at all! And the cushions fit perfectly! SO now when Lovely Jean and Ben come over the cushions are ready!
