Scissor Mystery

 

SO I went to a yard sale over in West Amana. I got a box of scissors. This pair has me confounded though. What does that say on the blade?

I can't quite make it out and it's kind of making me crazy.

They had a lot of stuff-it was a kind of estate/benefit for the Amana Arts folks. 

I loved the door on the entry way to the house. It was like a breezeway with two of these curved top doors! So pretty!

Anyways, it was nice to get out a little bit! Then the next day DD brought me home these! 

Isn't she just the BEST! She was at an antique store somewhere and saw them!

I always say that Wiss Scissors are the best and these pinking shears are smooth and nice feeling-and really heavy! 

And the Big Deal Bean is getting settled into their new home!!

We've been hauling a little bit over there off and on. They are getting new flooring so aren't entirely moved in yet. Such a great home for them-4 bedrooms and THREE bathrooms!! I'll post more about that later! 

January! Already? Let me Finish December!!

 SO, let's get caught up...In December, we acquired this new pick up.

Hubs had been aching to get a new pick up, so we traded in the Kia.

 He's VERY happy with it!

 Christmas was full of celebrations-at Mom & Dad's

 We had the get together the Saturday before Christmas because I have to Work on Sunday.

 Fun was had by all.

 Then to Aunt Francie's on Christmas eve.

 Always a nice time together.

 Then Christmas evening at our house.

Jaymie instructed us on playing Dog Man and everyone seemed pretty pleased with their Christmas gifts.

 Look what I got! I love this little ceramic beauty!

 And look here! I finished this quilt! The weather was so warm that I could spray baste it outdoors!

 This one is going to be a gift, but I don't think the recipient is a blog reader...soooo...I should be safe!

 Love this pattern. It's called square knot from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I used most of the bundle of batiks that I won for the Row by Row last summer. And a bunch of background batik that I got while shopping with my Mom.

Ok, so now I think I'm ready to start January!

Visiting Polly Ann's

 I took my sister over to Mt Vernon last Saturday-I got fabric-she did not. Anyways, we stopped by the other shops in the Old School there. A couple of antique shops, a flower and decor shop and a vintage clothing shop. Then across the street is Polly Ann's Antiques.

 The little house is just packed with all kinds of fun things!

 the basement is full of manly stuff.....

 and there is kitchen stuff everywhere-honestly, I couldn't take enough pictures to do it justice.

I ended up with a few pairs of scissors...to add to the collection, you know.

 This pair was kind of interesting, it says Hargreaves Smith & Co Sheffield

on the blade it says Cast Steel. They actually cut pretty well, and Google thinks they might be about 100years old! Anyways, it was a nice day to get out with my sister-we'll have to do it again soon!
