Packing it In....& a Table Trick

These are the last of the Christmas decorations for 2010. Purple & gold all packed away in their boxes.   It's almost depressing, I just love the Christmas trees, Ah well if it was there all the time I probably wouldn't like it as much. 

But hey I want to remember this cool table cloth trick. See the Purple satin table cover was too short so I made some bloomers for the table!!

Yup, lookie here, I just cut some left over gold taffeta and ran a casing for elastic through the top and ran some hem tape through it and TA-DA looks like two table clothes and it was free!!!

 

 Well I realize I had to tuck in the green ribbon, but nobody knew any different!

 Looks good! This was the table that the advent wreath was on I imagine we'll use the same one next year. I got fat white pillar candles already at Pier 1 so I'm set on that!

Christmas Wreath

I have just a few things I haven't had time to get posted in 2010 so here's the round up!
My favorite wreath ever. It's so full of Christmas memories and I love every ornament on it.

It makes me sad to think of putting it away:-(

Christmas Tree 2010

So you see I did the white tree this year. With Blue & Silver it really came out good. I just love the white tree.

 I used the blue felt skirt that I machine embroidered with the Merry Christmas motif.

I added the wire garland with little stars at the last. I really wanted blue ribbon about 1/2" but couldn't find any anywhere! Go Figure. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for a silver star too.

Christmas Eve At Aunt Francie's

So it's a family tradition that we all gather and have chili for supper, exchange gifts and read the Christmas Story from the Bible and sing Carols.

Of course there's always a ton of food. Those savory cracker snacks...mmmmmmm!!

There's a lot of conversation and catching up.

And we all always ahve a good time reminicing aboiut the olden days when all of us cousins were little.

Bless you Kathleen at gonna want seconds! I have been following this fun & tasty blog for awhile and when I saw these well I had to make them. They're called Black Bottom  Cocnut Bars. And mmm delish!!!!

     

And like a Christmas Bonus, they look like the pictures on  Kathleen's post!!!! WOW!!!

Christmas Gift Exchange

     So, every year we have a family gift exchange-usually at my Aunt's house. We each bring a gift then you can unwrap a gift and it's yours unless the next person wants to "steal" your gift then you can pick another or steal another person's gift...hmmm it almost sounds hostile when you write it down, but it's really very fun. Anyways every year it seems like there is one gift that gets stolen the most-meaning it's "wanted" by folks. So I wanted to have the wanted gift this year.

        So I printed off a photo of my Mom and her family when they were kids, onto fabric.

And sewed up a little wall quilt out of the photo.

I cut the fabric letters out using my Slice machine-I wondered how it would do with fabric, and it worked pretty well.

I embellished with some buttons from my Gramma's button box-that's her on the far right of the photo BTW.

And I quilted it with a quick meandering stitch.

And here it is all done and ready to wrap! I'll have to let you know if it's the wanted one this year or not!

Christmas Cow Pie Cookies

I blogged about these last year Oleo Oh wait two years ago, wow it sure doesn't seem possible to have been blogging this long. Anyways here is the latest batch!

 But they really are one of my most favorite cookies. I sprinkled them with a little extra red sprinkle sugar stuff since these will also be going on the church cookie walk.

Taste of Home

So I needed to make cookies, and where would you go to see the most, best recipes, after Tasty Kitchen anyways....yup, Taste of Home. I saw these little cuties and knew I had to make them.

So it's time to make Christmas cookies. Some for the church cookie walk and some for US!

Know what these are?  Noo silly, there're noses-snowman noses!

And look here are ear muffs and eyes and mouths too!

Ooops a little upside downish...but they're cute aren't they!!

So I changed it up from the link above. I used regular sandwich cookies(white ones) because I don't like peanut butter. For the noses I bought a bag of those sugar orange slices, they are so good-and used the kitchen scissors to cut them into flat pieces then cut them into triangles and rolled them in some sugar to make them not sticky. They are really the BEST noses!! Then instead of  licorice for the ear muff band, I cut up some fruit roll ups and fruit by the foot. I bought a variety pack box so I could get green fruit rollups to go with the green m&ms. I'm not a very good cookie dunker so my snow men are a little bumpy, not as nice as the one in the Taste of Home picture. But still they're darn cute!!!

Every year this is the start of the season. Lookie! Luggage. I use the luggage I got several years ago all the time so It's great to get a new piece. And I love all the products! And the chocolate covered Almonds!!!!!!
