Seasonal Quilt

 

SO the space between Halloween and Thanksgiving needs a fall quilt I think! I got these fat quarters at a yard sale awhile back-perfect colors!

I've had this pattern for awhile, too, so it's going to be perfect!

I fixed it

Here we are, much better, I won't choose this quilting design again-it is dense!!!

And I used a different thread-new to me called, Superior Threads Omni V. It was a variegated gold/brown color so it looks great with the leaves. 

It was a windy day, but here are the clothesline pictures.

I like the fall leaves with the blue sky background.

Look at that pretty leaf design I chose to quilt. 

The back is some 108 I got on sale on the shop hop this summer. 

You really can't see the quilting design too well on it. 

But you can see it on the front! It's called Dancing Leaves, and if I ever do it again, I'll make it much larger! This took something like 12 bobbins!

I've got a plan for a Winter quilt now!
Oh I almost forgot...I was at my long arm group meeting and the folks talked about using this measuring device, and one lady said Oh just make one , you can get the stuff at hob lob. Well I don't even need to go to Hob Lob.  It's just a long bit of round elastic with toggles attached. I have this nice orange elastic, and lots of hood toggles, so I made one for myself!

See, I attached the elastic onto the roller bar at both ends, with 3 toggle markers on the elastic. 

There! Now I move the toggles to the edges and the center, or seams,  of the quilt and then I can keep an eye on the alignment as I quilt!.

Easy peasy! And it's adjustable for any quilt!

Well, It's November....

 So, I better finish up with October stuff! Here's Darling Daughter with Drew & Hayden. Missing Hailey, but we'll get her another time I hope!

I went up to Mom's and delivered her walker bag and I also had a Maid Rite.....SO GOOD!

ANd I don't think I showed this pretty fall looking tree in the back yard.

I got these beautiful flowers for my birthday!

The weather was gorgeous, so I went out and spray basted my Social Sharks Quilt.

I think this came out so cute. I was determined to not buy fabric for it, so I used what I had in my stash.

I wasn't sure about the background fabric, but it actually looks good!

This pattern , Social Sharks, was supposed to have 12 sharks. 

I was tired of making sharks after 2, so I quit after 8. 

I think it's still a pretty great quilt, finished at about 60" X 66" , instead of the 76x76 12 sharks would have made. 

And here it is all quilted and bound.

I just did wavy lines across the whole quilt to make it look like underwater.....well at least it looks wavy.

Funny thing, Hubs was watching Jaws last night .....hahahaha

I used the rest of a navy blue batik I had and some night stars for the back. I have a bit of an over stock on fabric, so I was glad to use these pieces up!

I also went to an estate sale and picked up a new metal picnic basket. I love these things! This one doesn't have a label or anything, but has great looking wooden handles. I got it for less than $5 along with a scrabble game and a card game. Always good to have games when kids appear.

That Fall looking trees leaves are gone-Finn  noticed right away. I bought candy bars for tick or treaters, thinking the girls from next door might stop by, nope-they weren't even home it didn't look like! Oh well, I think I'll have a Snickers in my lunch box!

Fall Chores

 SO I figured I needed to get my house chores done, so I drug out the ladder to clean the gutters, since all the leaves are pretty much down. Then I called Uber Son to come over and help!

 He took the big junk out then used the power washer to clean the downspouts and get the deep crud out!

 The North side took a long time.

 The South side took a lot less time. He had the method figured out to save a lot of time. But with weather this nice, it wasn't so bad.

 And when there are leaves on the ground you know what happens.....

 Big piles appear...kids will rake, if you DON'T want them too!!LOL!!

 And daredevils will then climb the tree and jump in....

no worries, no broken bones!

Busy, Busy on the River

So Hubs and me went for a little leaf lookin' expedition last Saturday. It may have been a wee bit early, but it's always nice to go for a ride. We headed over to the Mighty Mississippi River, and made a quick stop at Expressions in Thread in Le Claire, I was pretty fast...

Then Hubs realized he forgot his cane! Yies-he's not going far without it so I said, let's find a cane store-in Le Claire there are about 25 antique stores, I stopped here

Oh, yeah, they had an awesome cane for only $10. And such nice folks there, it was totally Karmic they way it all came together!
Anyways off we went,

we went up past Comanche, and up to Sabula-that's where these big white birds were hanging out.
Then we went to the Lock & Dam at Bellevue.

So the leaves weren't great, but it's always a good trip when you cross the river-it's like being on vacation-and there is fabric involved!
