So Much to Do

 Look at these little tiny tomatoes! They are delicious little things. The full size plants just are not producing but these little fellas sure are! Some of them are as tiny as a bead, some are almost cherry size, but they are sweet like candy!

 My gardener reported that the string trimmer was not cutting the string and it was beating up her leg! YIKES> I ordered a new cutting blade part. The part was $2.99 but the shipping from the B&D folks was $6.99! Anyways....

 I got the new one put on while the gardener is on break!!

 I got some new pillows at Costco-I love them, they are flat and smooshy, just the way I like them! So I made new pillow cases for them. This cotton fabric is so smooth and cool! I love it.

Ringo is just beating the heat in the house. Me too!

Pillowcases

 So I thought I'd do something a little different for valentine's day this year. For the kiddos I'm making pillowcases! It happens that while I was at the local JoAnn's store they had the cutest valentine fabric on sale! I had to get a bit.

 The down side is that a couple of my choices were one way prints that would be going the wrong way on a pillowcase. SO when that happens you have to cut the folded edge and re stitch so the long way is the way the print goes.

 See these bears would be going sideways if I just went with it the way they are.....

 But if I cut it apart on the fold and re stitch it the long way, the bears are right side up when the pillowcase is done.

 Awww, look how cute these are!! And I had this hunk of valentine fabric in my stash-I don't even remember buying it, but it's pretty cute too, so I have more valentine pillowcases!

There! That's a completed project and one more hunk of fabric out of the stash! Sew On!

Off of the Fabric Shelf!

 So, I'm not really much of a fabric hoarder. I usually only buy fabric if I have a project for it. But sometimes I am given some fabric......like this really cool black and white totally mid century modern style upholstery fabric. It was cut into 8 pieces so I decided to make them into grocery tote bags. It is cool fabric and now it's out of my fabric shelf.

 Then there's this cute travel print-honestly I didn't buy it, I'm sure I didn't! But here it is, so I stitched it up into a couple of pillowcases for the spare room. That dark red color is a scrap I had in the bin, so now that's off of my shelf too! And it looks really good with the blues on that bed!

 

And last there's this polar bear border print. I think it was in a pile of fabrics that was used in pillowcases for the ConKerr Cancer donation. There was just "bear"ly enough of it to make this Christmas Tree skirt from the magazine called Quilts & More.

I used scraps to make the star corner blocks and now those bears will be under the tree one of these Christmases or under someone else's tree! At any rate that fabric is off my shelf. Still a few more pieces to go, but making good progress with the time I have.

New Pillows

So, they say you should replace your pillows every two years....weeellllll, it MAY have been a LITTLE bit longer than that for me.  So now I have new pillows and thought they should have some new pillow cases. And I want to make an effort to use up some of my stash of fabric too!

I am still in love with this Micheal Miller dress form print. Doesn't it make nice pillow cases? I haven't made a pillowcase since last year, I think I'll make a few more! Off to sew!!

This year, we're sewing in the Oxford United Methodist Church on Saturday September 27.
So I've been cutting up fabric to make a few and to have kits ready to go for anyone who shows up to sew!
hmmm, where did those pictures go?  Well I guess I'll have to add them later!! My In Progress basket is getting FULL!

Sewing For ConKerr Cancer

So, last week I went to a few yard sales with my Darling Daughter (DD). We got these cool vintage folding chairs-(I got the lady to take $1 for BOTH of them!), and this EXCELLENT Vintage ironing board. I got the ironing board for only $1 and then just got a cover for it-SCORE!

 Both were on my must have list for my latest BIG IDEA.

I decided for an Outreach Project supported by my local church, Oxford United Methodist we would sew pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer and we would do it at the Farmer's market!

I loaded up my nifty chairs, table, sewing machines, ironing board and headed to the park!
 Did I mention what a great outfit the ConKerr cancer folks are? They aren't into the whole "send us money" deal, instead, they say, sew us a pillowcase and donate it to your local coordinator for distribution in your local area. What a concept!!

I precut the fabric to the size suggested at the ConKerr Cancer website. I de-stashed some fabric from my own "collection" and Pastor Diane also liberated some from her "personal fabric store". We had 23 pillowcases ready to sew. I sewed a few for display examples and then we sewed 10 pillowcases during the farmer's market!

Kids came and sewed, here's Caitie with her finished bunny pillowcase. She also helped sew a 2nd pillowcase too!

Mommy Michelle with baby Mikayla sewed a pillowcase too!
It was a beautiful day at the Farmer's Market with some wonderful music to sew by, and we will be doing it again next week to finish off the fabric. Here's the link to the Oxford Farmer's Market. Come see us on Monday August 19 from 4-6 pm. You can sew too!

 

I've Got A New Project!

Pillowcases!

This stack of fabric will soon be pillowcases for the ConKerr Cancer Organization. They provide cheery pillowcases for kids in local hospitals and care centers who have a traumatic injury or illness. You can learn more about ConKerr Cancer here.

So as part of my Church's outreach program we're going to sew at the Oxford Farmer's market on Monday from 4-6pm.

If we still have fabric left after Monday we'll do it again on August 19 too!

Getting My Kicks....

Isn't this Rt 66 fabric sweet! It's almost done. This quilt will be for Wyatt's new little brother. You might remember I made HERE for Wyatt.
I got it spray basted together and just need to quilt it.
The cars are the same-ish both fabrics are from Alexander Henry.
 And since I had a lot left over I also made some pillow cases for my Uber Son's room.

These pillow cases whip up fast and easy. I used this video tutorial to make them.

Next up will be a girlsish quilt. I've been wanting to make a chevron quilt for awhile and the missour Star Quilt Company posted a good tutorial so I've got it started.
