Freezer Project

 So we've been in freezer mode here lately! The freezer in the basement at my parents house was just too much with going up and down the stairs, so Sis and I decided to get them a new freezer and put it in the garage so it would be accessible without any stairs. Since the elevator is in the garage, it works out!

We found this little unit at Menards. menards.com  For only about $200, 6.6 cu ft.. Only thing we had to figure out was, the seal on the door was so tight it would pull the whole freezer around trying to open the door! I fixed that with a little bit of plumbers strapping and a screw to the wall stud! All fixed!

So, I was telling Hubs all about the freezer adventure, and he says, we should get a new upright freezer too! I couldn't agree more! Our little freezer is at least 20 years old! I looked at Costco,  But the upright one they had was a little small I thought, 10.2 cu ft. 

So I looked at Menards.com and saw one like the one we got the folks, only bigger 13.8 cu ft. Great ! I'm ordering it. Here's the link if you want to see the details....LINK

I placed it on top of some cement pavers, just to keep it up if snow blows in to the garage, like it does sometimes. 

It looks great, I froze a cup of water in it in just a few hours and transferred the foods from the little old freezer to the new one the next day. 

There! All done! I sure to like everything at a glance instead of standing on my head to see to the bottom of the little old freezer. I hope this one lasts as long as the little one has-it's going to the next-door-neighbors, they have a new baby (plus two older girls) and could use a little extra freezer space. Now I imagine Hubs will make it his mission to fill it up!

TV Drama

 So, you might notice the TV screen doesn't look quite right. Dilly was playing with a plastic measuring cup banging it on the coffee table, then he banged it on the TV.

So off we went to Costco to get a new TV.  Dilly helped load it in the back of the pick up. 

And then came home to play. 

We also made a stop at the Post Office. 

See that cute sticker the postal fella gave him. 

And some time with Iris too.  We always have an eventful day!

It's Spring

This little fella was here last week when it was 70 degrees outside!  He's setting the rocks free through the fence wire...I told him he's going to have to pick up those rocks!

And no matter where he is he takes his shoes off.

And the first swing of 2025.

He had a great day! 

Then on Friday we got this! A new Refrigerator! Look at this post from 2009, You see how long our last fridge lasted and it was still going pretty well. But I felt like if we waited too long we'd be paying A LOT more, and the people, who think they know. say a refrigerator should only last 15 years max, and we're past that so it was time! I was torn between the Whirlpool and the LG, but chose the Whirlpool. Partly because of the way the political climate is, I wonder if I could get parts in the future for the LG. Heck I might have the same issue with this one, but it is what it is!

Look at all the space for all the stuff!

I chose this Whirlpool model because it has the ice maker completely in the door freeing up another shelf in the freezer. And the water filter is in the top of the refrigerator side, so I don't have to get on the floor to change it!

I kind of shoved all the stuff back in the new freezer, because I didn't want it to start to thaw!

I like the ice and water on the door-once you have that, you'll never want it anywhere else I think!

She's a beaut-and the delivery was great. I ordered it on line from Costco-so delivery and set up and take away the old one,  was included. Now the secret- There's a dent in the back of it. Our delivery fellas said they unpacked it in the truck and saw the dent, so they asked us if we wanted to refuse it or call Costco and see if they'd knock off a little from the price. 

Well by then I had my counter and a big cooler and then some, full of food waiting to go into it's new home!

It's at the back at the bottom.  We talked it over and decided it would not affect the operation of the refrigerator, so let's see if Costco will give a a little deal.

This little dent saved us $200, so the fridge was on special for $999.99 so with tax it came to  $1059.97. Minus a $200 dent,  we got a deal for only $859.97. 

 

Merry New Year

 

This busy guy was here for the eve. We made a Costco run

And since a busy boy couldn't manage to leave the tree alone, 

We took it down, of course there was the helper, who though tthe bag of bows was there just for him!!

He tends to throw everything off the bench and then take up his position

These quilts are waiting to go to his Mommy's car/house.

Finally NAP TIME!!!!!

After he left, I got busy and finished clue 6 for the Quiltville Mystery quilt.

And then at 1am on New Year's Day, I woke up sick. Thankfully after spending all day in bed or puking or pooping, I'm back in good shape today! Merry New Year!

Thank Ben

So our TV stopped working. It had sound but a black picture. SO after trying all ways to get it to work-I moved the old TV in and tried that and it worked, soooo, I called Ben to help and off we go to Costco.

Ben did all the work for us! He disconnected and reconnected and updated and got us going!

Looking good my darling Son! SO then he told us the old sound bar, wouldn't connect properly with the new TV, so off I go the next day to Costco once more. 

So then Ben came over one more time and got all the electronics working off of ONE remote control-AKA THE CLICKER! LOL. Hubs is very happy with his new set up. 

Then more bad news our Air Fryer is recalled.SO I went on line to learn how to return it and get a new one. 

They tell you to fill out their form and to attach photos of our air fryer with the model and batch numbers on it. 

And they tell you to cut the cord off! YIKES!!! It's surprising how hard it is to be destructive! LOL! They sent me an email saying it will be 3-8 weeks and they'll send us a new one.  OK. I hope that's all the electric appliance issues we have for awhile!

 

Disposal Disposal

 So, the garbage disposal broke-the little teeth things broke off from the retaining pegs and were banging around in there-YIKES! SO I did  some on line shopping and found a great deal at Costco.

It's a big one and only $89.99!!

And they had it at the store so i didn't need to order it and wait! WIN!

 See I got the old one off-it was a tiny 1/4HP and look at the new one I got, on the right, it's a 1 1/3 HP that thing will grind!!

 So they stress that you have to put it together the way it's shipped! So I took pictures.

 Lookie there! It's all going well!

 Except that I need one more hand to get it up there. You have to be able to push it up and twist it all at the same time. KIDS to the rescue.

 Dannie came over and got it up there-she had to go though, so I was going to finish it myself,  then I lost a screw for the connector INSIDE the housing!! Ben came over and un installed it for me and got the screw out. Pretty good plumbing for an electrician guy!

We're all good now! I have a tiny drip on the P trap dang it, now I'll have to get under there again. Poor old knees!!
