Ready to Bring On Spring

 Hubs brought home some canna bulbs and asked if I would plant them in some big pots.

So I got him some big pots and some more dirt and planted them. We'll see if they grow!

I was walking Ringo at Kent park and saw this goose family our for a swim, so cute!

and look ONE mushroom!

The big kids came over the other day and mowed the lawn-2nd mow of the season.

Dilly and Drew chilled in the wagon. 

While the mommy gave mowing directions to the big kids. 

And then I fixed the window screens that were in bad shape. I think we're ready to bring on spring!

Home Ownership......

 SO, DD had to go to an appointment, it was going to be a looong time, so I got to watch this little fella!

He's growing along just fine.

And starting to learn all kinds of new things! Anyways, that's all the fun I had......chores need to be done!

One of our smoke detectors started beeping, so I went to get some 9V batteries, it's not a size I have in my Battery Buddy. I went to Batteries and Bulbs, and the fella there suggested I try the lithium batteries. They cost about $2 more per battery, but are supposed to last 10 years. 

I'm glad I changed all 5 of them and hopefully, I won't have to do it for 10years!

Out in the back yard, I have a fence post that got damaged and broke the post cap that holds the top rai; in place. 

I'm going to need some leverage to get this on! I called my Darling Ben, he said he would stop over, but I got to thinking......

If I put a tie down strap to the tree at the right angle........

And hooked enough tie downs together to get to the post......

I should be able to pull it over to catch the new post cap.......

TA DA! Little Red Hen strikes again! Ringo helped.

Now, I didn't notice how badly bent the top rail was, so I'll have to get a new one of those.

I used the push mower to mow the hill, I hope for the last time this year.

The battery lawn mower sure is easy to use. It's lighter and simple to run, push one button and off you go! That's enough chores for me!

Family Mow Day

So, I serged the edges of a bunch of baby gauze for little Dylan last week, it was fast and easy! The one piece of gauze was from our road trip to Hayden's football game side trip to Nauvoo Il. Then the whole herd came over and mowed the lawn for me.

Hayden and Hailey took turns mowing the back yard and the front yard. They get better every time they mow! 

Meanwhile Dylan and his Mommy chilled in the house.....

and ate red licorice. 

Drew likes red licorice too!

Such a good day, it might be the last mow of the year! That would be good!
 

Running Through July!

 Where does the time go! The meadow next door is already on the 2nd cutting of hay!

I've started working on the Bjorn Bear quilt for our little Gummy Bear. I chose fabrics while I was out shop hopping in the colors of gummy bears, did you know the original Haribo gummy bears only come in 5 colors? Red, orange, green, yellow and clear. 

It's an Elizabeth Hartman pattern, so there are a ton of tiny pieces. But it's so cute! Here's the link to the pattern Link

I had to make 12 bears! I'm sure glad I didn't make the bigger quilt option!

Here's the first one! It takes a little over 2 hours for me to get one bear cut out and sewn. Cutting is the real time taker on these little guys!

Iris is always so helpful.

Every time I lay out the blocks she comes running in to help!

Ok ready to quilt! I'm thinking something more squarish than my usual meandering. So Square meandering! With a nice soft faux minky backing. 

SO cute! All done and out on the porch for pictures!

Loving those bears, and I think DD will love them too!

Those cute bees on the soft backing, get it? Bears and Bees and honey? SO cute!

On the 11the Pa fell down at the Legion and we thought he broke a hip or something. After 3 hours in the VA ER, they determined that he's just clumsy and nothing was broken. Just badly bent. 

Thank goodness! And DD came with the kids and they mowed my lawn for me! Look at her mowing like a boss, with little gummy bear along for the ride HAHA!

Just a few more days left in July! Wonder if little gummy bear will wait for August?
