An Ending and Dilly Pedals On!

 Well, it was a lovely funeral. The flowers were just beautiful!

We had a very nice group of friends and relatives who came to celebrate Mom.  She had a lot of the arrangements already prepared, and the plot in Rose Hill was all ready. We had pie at Perkins after the cemetery. Mom & Dad always enjoy Perkins-the servers know them and have their orders memorized.  So it only seemed fitting to have pie for everyone. 

Tomorrow I'll have Dilly back, and the fun will begin again!

Dilly has the hang of riding his bike now. 

And he needs some boundaries on the driveway-I live in fear that he'll ride right out into the traffic on our busy street.

And we also put up a stop sign-that was good for a little bit-until he took it down and rode on!

And riding a bike makes you hungry, so it's good to have ice cream....

And share it with Ringo too. 

Christmas Catch UP!

 Ben stopped over to visit the other day, so I asked if he wanted to put together a Christmas present for Dylan. Sure! 

There is a little copy cat here..... Anyways, It's a table and chairs set I got for Dilly. Assembly challenged the adult and amused the toddler.

Here's the finished project.

I took Ringo for a nice Christmas Day walk at Kent Park. The weather was very nice! 

I sewed small string backpacks for the kids to put their Christmas haul in. It's a very cute, handy project. The directions can be found at Sew Can She. 

We had supper at our house on Christmas Day and handed out the gifts.  Not that we handed out appliances or anything, but, I paid for Bean to have these beautiful appliances installed at their house. 

For some reason I didn't take pictures of presents opening!  Only this one!

It was a bust few days wrapping up with Soup and sandwiches at Julie's house. 

I rolled up the saran wrap game once again. They seemed to like it pretty well again. 

This year I had smaller items to roll in the wrap, so a smaller ball.

Everyone had fun with that.

Phew! I'm going to go sew a little bit now and relax! 

The annual Bonnie K Hunter Mystery Quilt is in the works, now's my chance to catch up on this rainy day!

Snow! Snow! Snow!

 

We got the first snow right after Thanksgiving and it seems like we go a few days of nice weather and then more snow.

Ringo likes it well enough!

And I'm sure glad I got the heat track mats out when I did! 

This little guy wasn't quite ready for the first snow

He didn't bring his snow boots and he didn't pack his snow pants and hat. Luckily, I had one of ben's old hats, and some littler knit gloves and he had his hiker shoes, so it wasn't terrible. 

Here's what he does.....

Goes out and eats snow.

I keep telling him he's not a dog, but still, he loves to eat snow. Watch for that yellow snow though Dilly Boy!

And don't call DHS on me either-he always pops out the door without a coat on......and yesterday it was in PJs and slippers!

It was only about 20degrees out, but he wanted to go out so he took off FAST! Well at least he had Grampa's hat on!!LOL!

I had to chase him around to the back of the house before I caught up to him!

There we go, all outfitted correctly!

Winter is Coming

So, I went out to put down the Heat Trac mats, in preparation for the winter and found that my extension cord had ruined the outlet! Yikes!

 Ben, the wonder son, stopped over and relaced it in no time at all. I purchased a new extension cord with heavier wire (10) off of Amazon and we're good to go again. 

There! All plugged in and good to go!

Ringo thinks it looks pretty good. I had stored the mats rolled up in the boxes they came in, but they seem to be laying pretty flat now that they are warmed up. I guess I better go blow some leaves away pretty soon, it never ends, does it!

If You Want Something Done, YOu Gotta Do it Yourself

So, you may remember that I got a new washer and dryer back In October of 2022 . 

The dryer stopped heating, so I went to my resources at you tube and tried the suggested fixes. 

I always take pictures of what I'm doing so I can put it back together again. Funny thing, all the DIY folks start out by saying, "remove the 8 screws on the back" oddly, mine has 20 screws.

Sheesh! Anyways, the whole thing was just a catastrophe!  I wanted to get the heating element out, so I could ensure I was ordering the correct one, but the screws that hold it in are from the INSIDE of the frame!

I give up! Wonderful Hubs, says to me, "You don't like that dryer anyways, and besides that it makes that annoying noise, just order a new one!" I ordered a new dryer from LOWE'S......

But as I already know, and I should listen to myself, Lowe's will mess up somehow...and they did! I ordered a dryer on Tuesday for delivery on Thursday. Confirmed-THURSDAY, Today I check my email to see what time they could arrive, and it says Delivery On Tuesday-NEXT TUESDAY!! NOOOOO! So I called the service number and tried not to scream at the person, and ended up cancelling the order. I'm not waiting 6 days to get a dryer! SO I flip to the Menards web page and find almost the same dryer for STORE PICK UP! 

I know, I know, if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. That's me The Red Hen. So I took Ringo for his walk

We saw a deer.....see it? 

Anyways, Then I headed out to Menards to pick up my dryer. Thankfully, they did a good job and had it ready to go in just a few minutes. 

Unloaded it and Started the electrical cord assembly.  

TA DA! All done, ready to move out of the heat! It's about 90degrees in the garage today! I'm hauling the old one to the dump for recycling. Then I'll move the new one inside when I get back!

It fits! I did measure, but that door knob is always in the way!

Squeezed the new vent pipe in there-it's a new one and very flexible! The metal-ish kind won't flex enough to fit in the space, so this is good!

And here it is! I need to adjust the leveling feet a little bit, but it's good for now.

Now we'll see how this one does. Here's hoping for the long haul, because I don't want to install another one!
