Still Getting Things Done

I did this today-Early Voting in the drive through line! It was kind of an odd thing to be voting in the car, but it went real smooth and there are lots of folks available to keep the line moving.
Glad to get my vote in. Now just waiting for the crazy campaign ads to get done!

These guys were hanging around here so I snapped a few pictures.
I just love to see these two together.
And it's that time of year again-time to get costumes ready for Halloween!
I've got fluff all over the house!
This year we are going to have two bears.
One big bear and one little bear.
Big bear....
For some reason Ringo is just crazy about these fuzzy costumes!

And little bear.

Aren't they just the cutest!
And I should mention that we got a new water faucet installed on the East side of the house.
We had the plumber out and they got it done in a jiffy and for $430!
Iris is checking out the situation.

Good Times

I had to have Dannie get a picture of the tail on Charmander. It's the best part!
Halloween went well. I was at work, but the kids made quite a haul! It was cold out so they were determined!
It was also dog mani-pedi day...maybe that's pedi-pedi day for a dog. LOL! Anyways, Ben was the holder, First up was Ladybird, who loves him so much, she just lets him pick her up and Dannie clips her toenails.
Then it was Ringo's turn. Let's just say Ringo wasn't quite as calm about it.
Ben & Dannie tried to clip his nails in various ways.....
Ben finally found the sweet spot...
Just enough squeezing to keep him still, but not too much so he didn't squirm.
Toenail Success!

Infernape Halloween Costume

So I finally am finished with the Infernape Halloween Costume for Girlfriend-in-law's little boy.  This is what the Pokemon called Infernapre looks like.
And here's the hood for the costume.
Looks like fire doesn't it? That or a Vegas show girl!!
And the whole thing. I think it looks pretty good. Those gold armor patches were a little tricky but I think they will satisfy the boy.
And as requested a flame on the tail!
Phew! I'm glad that's all done! Maybe I can get a photo of the little trick or treater in the costume to share too.

Sewing for Others

SO, look! I finally figured out how come I couldn't get pictures. SO here they are!

Here are pillowcases in progress for the Sew A Long next Saturday. These pillowcase parts will be sewn together for the ConKerr Cancer organization. They give cute pillowcases to children who are in the hospital for cancer treatment.

Then there's this vest. It was one of those pre-printed cut outs you buy in a panel. It was donated to the fabric for church sewing. SO I sewed it up and added a few buttons and will have it for sale at the Annual All Church Bazaar on November 8. Pretty cute, huh!
Look at my In Progress bucket! My Mom made it for me and it's getting full! I got green fabric for a Christmas quilt for my grilfriend-in-law's daughter. Hope I can get it done! And I got the brownish fabric for the Infernape costume I was requested for Halloween.  Don't ask....Infernape is a Pokemon....
And I'm finishing up with some repair jobs for others too. A trouser zipper-YUCK! and a jacket zipper and I'm sewing for a princess or two ....
See Cinderella needed a little repair
and so did Snow White. For the price Disney charges for these dress up clothes you'd think they'd be a little nicer fabric. It's yucky! It ravels and just falls apart under the needle. Oh well I think the princesses will be Ok for awhile now.

The Goodwill Costume

So, you remeber that one kiddo wants to be Marceline the Vampire Queen. right?
Well Marceline needs some red boots...so I popped in to Good will to shop around...
Oh wait..... to shop for BOOTS....
hmmm, maybe...
Oh that's better, and only $4-Marceline you're on your way now!

I had some red vinyl in my stash, I thought I was gonna make a purse out of it, but instead....
I traced around the boots and sewed the center seam, and slipped the boot inside and used red duct tape-yes the best thing- duct tape...
And ta-Da! Red Marceline boots. PLUS the suede boots underneath are still good and can be worn after Halloween if she wants to.

Turtles in Progress

So, it's almost Halloween time. That means it's costume time! YAY!
I have been requested to make two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....

I've made good progress, here's the shell side so far. I also need to work out the mask and knee pad kind of things that are on the turtles.

And the front side. I need to work out the belt buckle dealio, and then add the shell lines and some "muscles" on the front. I think I may need to adjust the hoods, it's hard to tell unitl the little critters can come try them on.
The oldest trick or treater wants to be Marceline the Vampire Queen...
Yeah, I don't know much about that one but I did find a long black wig! Looks like that's all a kid would need!

Pondering Halloween Costumes at Target

I had to go get dog food today so I popped over to Target. It's the season for Halloween costumes! I love Halloween Costumes. Let's peek at what Target has this year. hmmm for $30 you can be the illuminated purple witch....wonder if that's a good witch or a bad witch.  I noticed that Target separates their costumes into boy costumes in one aisle and girl costumes in the next aisle.

Anyways, oh look princess of the seas! huh, well for $25
I guess you should be princess of something.
Oh Demonic Devil, there's something every little girls should want to be, goes perfectly with the zombie in the boys costume aisle. For $15 you get a shirt with dirt on it-oh maybe that's blood and guts- and a mask with a hood.

Maybe Flesh Stalker is
what a boy dreams of being.  Hey now we're talking look a Transformer Optimus Prime! Now that's a great costume!!
I don't know , but it seems like these costumes all lack imagination. There is something sort of special about making your own costume. I loved making costumes for my kids, probably my favorite thing to make even now. But I didn't make optimus prime-that's a cool costume...maybe I could make it in grown up size.......never mind.
