WOW! New Appliances

So this has been my reliable old friend for many years! I've had this washer for over 15 years, the dryer a little bit les-maybe 10 years. My Kenmore appliances from Sears have been great, I've had to make a few small repairs, a switch , a belt, nothing to awful, but the belt is going again in the dryer-bits of it are sticking out in the drum. SO I went shopping. At Sears/K-Mart on line. We don't have a physical store near us-they do still exist I hear. 
 

SO I shopped on line (actually at Kmart.com) and found a set that looks like it will fit the space (yes, I measured) and has everything I want. I ordered it and scheduled delivery on line-I am confident it will be great!

The washer is the kind with no agitator, and it senses the correct water level to put in just enough water to wash whatever size load it has. I can watch it though the lid too! The dryer has a sensor too and it dries so fast compared to my old dryer. And it's huge-with a light inside! 

The only thing that was kind of annoying was that I ordered the take away of the old appliances, and they didn't take them the same day. The old appliance pick up wasn't until a week later.  Same guys, same truck came back and got them though-kind of annoying.  I hope this new Kenmore set will last as long as the old one did! 

The Good Ol Days

 So I'm almost done with moving/selling/loading old stuff up for my friend who has moved to an assisted living apartment. But as I was emptying a picnic basket I came across this newspaper. The Johnson County Farmer. Published the 3rd Tuesday of each month by Henderson Printing Co. Oxford, Iowa.

 I don't know where Henderson Printing was located but on Sept 15, 1953 they had some ads for appliances, feed and drive safely for School! Some things never change.

And also in that basket this sweet K Mart ad from April 10, 1974.

 Look you can get a Space-Age Style Stereo! 

 Boy I wish tires and shocks were priced like this today!  Although I don't think I want to see an 8 track tape ever again!!

HEY! A "toot-A-Loop" radio!! I thin there was one of these around our house back in the day-only $7.68-They're regular $9.88!

 OOOhhhh, look at that bras and slips for only $1!! And you could buy a wig at Kmart back then! Only $19.88 Wonder why they don't sell wigs any more? Those boys cuff flare pants look like they would be a great seller! Every kid I know would want plaid double knit pants!

Thankfully some things do change! Now I need to give the dogs a bath.

So I went to Kmart to pick up some stuff and I noticed this dealio stuck on the shopping cart handle. Great! They double coupons..YAY!! And look they give you

NO coupon needed coupons!! How cool is that?!!! What a brilliant idea! Since half the time I forget my coupons! They're right there on your cart. Love this idea!! Way to go Kmart

Butterflies Are Free

 Remember when I blogged about these horrifying jars with moving butterflies inside of them here...
It sounded like a good idea on paper...
 Well I was in Kmart again today and these look MUCH better!

See butterflies are free instead of banging themselves to death against a jar! Much Better Idea!!!!
