They're so pretty! This was on Sunday, just a few beauties.

And Look at Wednesday!

So pretty! So hubs and I went to the Cedar Rapids Kernels game on Wednesday. 

It was a perfect day, not too hot, a little breeze and too bad the Kernels lost.  For  a noon game the parking was packed! 

It's a struggle to get Hubs outside for more than a minute, but I did it! I ended up having to park about 2 blocks away from the ballpark, so I parked him on the sidewalk and parked then walked back. I got my steps in too!

Oh and look at these beautiful flowers I got for Mother's Day.

So pretty!

Birthday Bingo

 So, if you go to Meskwaki Bingo & Casino over in Tama Iowa on your birthday, you get a credit so you can play almost free. I grabbed my bingo dauber tote bag and headed out!

 Except for a little detour! The water was over the road over near Belle Plaine, so I took a detour, which also had water over the road, until I finally made my way though the back-roads of rural Iowa to the casino!

 They have new computers! YAY! they are sleek little tablet like devices. I also got a paper card so I could daub cards too...and have more chances to win!

 So this guy was sitting right behind me...can you see he's got a bald spot on his head? Well I kept looking and I couldn't figure it out.....

 He has a tattoo on his head!!!!!!!!! It's a character pushing a lawn mower!!! Seriously, I've seen quite a few tattoos, but really?? I couldn't get a really good picture-the overhead lighting was a glare on his head. Anyways, I was amused.

 And SURPRISE! I broke the losing streak! I had to split the pot with another winner, but I got $50!! So even with the detours, it was worth it!

 Then my DD, brought me cupcakes and flowers! WOW! Are those the most beautiful roses!! They are just lovely!! And cupcakes from Scratch Bakery. YUM!

SO I had a lucky day! Who could ask for a better birthday!

Springtime at Last

 I thought I wasn't going to have any lilacs, but POOF! They just popped open this week!

 THe violets...they're so sweet and are all over the yard.I wish they lasted longer!

 And those tulip bulbs my gardener panted are great!

 And the silly beasts have been here in the last few days too....

 Too bad the lawn needs mowed again. Thank goodness for my gardener AKA my Darling Daughter!

Getting Ready for Easter

My latest Bonnie Do list has been keeping me just a little bit busy, but I had to snap a couple of pictures of the latest flowers popping up in the yard. 

The violets...gotta love the tenacious little purple beauties..if they can come up in my yard they are truly tough!

And the tulips my Gardner planted are just opening up. They are so bright and pretty!

 

I had to pick up some candy for Easter and saw these. Do you know what kind of Hershey's kiss is wrapped in orange foil?

Yup, carrot cake! They are pretty tasty...they don't taste like chocolate so if you're expecting a chocolate flavor your out of luck. That suits me just fine...not a big chocolate fan.

What A Weekend

So just look at this nice plate. My favorite Darling Daughter treated my Mom and me on Saturday to Olive Garden. Wasn't that nice!! DD had some kind of chicken and I had some kind of ravioli, it was all good!

 We also went to a few yard sales and look at this awesome chair I got for only $5! I LOVE it!

 Then on Sunday, my favorite Uber Son and girlfriend-in-law brought me over these beautiful flowers! I'm so lucky to have such great kids!

 So today I finished the purple quilt for DD's friend who is having a baby girl.

 Look at that cute owl fabric we found for the backing. Owls must be the trendy thing this spring. We saw a ton of them all over the stores.

 I quick meander and some cute polka dot binding, and then....

 washed to crinkly goodness!!

 It came out a lot better than I expected, I wasn't really sold on the solid lavender fabric, but it ended up fantastic I think!

Flowering-and no Rain for a Minute

Edit! Look at this about 3 hours later and Ta Da!

 It's been raining like crazy all week! We had a dry moment yesterday afternoon and I went to see how our flowers were coming along. You know it's tough love in the yard at our house. Digging in the dirt is just not something I like to do. SO it's plunk the thing in there and leave it alone! The lilies are coming along well.

 But look at the peony! That thing is huge!

And about ready to start blooming! I took these pics on Tuesday, and now look here's Wednesday...

Returning the Vase

A lovely lady from my church let me take home some really gorgeous flowers last Sunday. I'm a little slow I guess because I didn't take any pictures of them. DOH!!! They had lilacs and bleeding hearts and tulips and these tiny purple flowers, they were WONDERFUL! So I took them with me to my Mom's who LOVED them! SO now since my church friend spread so much happiness, I thought I'd send a little cheer her way when I returned her vase to her.

 I made these cute flowers and butterflies with my Slice tool and layered them on a skewer along with a couple of seed packets for flowers.

Hmm, might be that I could do with a little stem practice-wooden isn't very attractive in these pictures is it.
