Hankies Again!

There's more paper to shred/sort. But I also got one done!

I washed and  pressed a pile of hankies from My Mom's dresser. There were quite a few of them. I swear none of them are square and they all have crooked hems.

I spray basted them  to a nice neutral colored white 12 1/2" squares. Then I found I needed a couple more so I added a few from my stash.
And loaded it up on Freddie. I couldn't decide on a design, but finally went with a basic leaf design.
It stitched out really nicely. I ordered some sale fabric from Brooklyn Fabric Company, it has little birds on it for the back.
And here it is on a fall windy day!

There are a lot of stains and discolorations on these hankies. Some of them had little stickers on them-they had never been used and some were clearly well used. I wonder if these were the same hankies Mom would tie a quarter in the corner of for offering and send us off to Sunday School.
And here's the back with little Robins on the fabric.

It came together quickly and I love it! I think I'll send it off with my sister.
I think she'll be surprised!

Here's the one I made back in 2018. It was much more colorful.

And sad news....
My favorite daily driver has gone to the shop-error message won't clear and I can't turn the hand wheel. I was sewing the long seam of the backing for this quilt when it locked up.
So I had to bring out my little Brother. It's very small compared to the baby Lock, but it sews like a champ! The repair shop says it will be about 4 weeks  before I get her back.
